Edison would deplore the government meddling with business and science that forces inferior and dangerous products like compact flourescents on consumers for purely political reasons. These kinds of central planning schemes always ruin business and cause suffering wherever they are allowed to persist.
I say dangerous and inferior because they contain mercury and are terrible to manufacture and dispose of. Also, they produce an inferior light shown by research to disrupt learning and aggravate conditions like autism, sensory integration disorders, depression, etc.

Thanks Steve! I can relate to these kinds of quotes in particular. Any time I feel like giving up on something, I remind myself that giving up results in instant failure.

Todd:

This was an interesting post. It reminded me of something that Napoleon said, and I will paraphrase:

"The difference between a hero and a coward is that the hero fights five minutes longer."

You are of course, very much correct. I just thought it was interesting that Edison predicted the use of technology to develop weapons of mass destruction - a concept beyond the scope of imagination for most people living at that time.

Thanks for your comment!
